- ½ cup water
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons lime zest plus 1 teaspoon lime zest, divided,
- 2 tablespoons lemon zest
- 1½ cups freshly squeezed lime juice
- ½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 4 cups freshly squeezed orange juice
- ¼ cup agave syrup
- 2 tablespoons salt
- Lime slices, for garnish
Instructions _______________________________________
- In a small saucepan, mix the water and sugar together and place over medium heat.
- Add the two tablespoons of lime zest and the lemon zest.
- Slowly bring to a boil, stirring constantly to dissolve the sugar.
- When the sugar dissolves, remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool.
- After the citrus syrup reaches room temperature, add the lime juice, lemon juice, orange juice, and agave syrup.
- Mix well and chill for at least two hours and preferably overnight, so the flavors can marry.
- Mix one teaspoon of lime zest with the salt in a large saucer or shallow pie pan.
- Rim the edges of the margarita glasses with a lime wedge and then dip them into a plate full of rock salt.
- Pour into the prepared glasses and garnish with a lime slice.
